The location makes it a perfect base for visits to Beynec, La Roc Gageac, Sarlat and the famous caves of the area.Everything about Cote Figue from its terrace overlooking the valley, to the oh so charming room decor, is delightful. Her breakfasts are scrumptious, and she wil prepare what ever you wish, from a duck cassoulet to fois gras for dinner. Located in Domme, a walled medieval town, high on a hill with sweeping views of the valley below, Cote Figue is a gem in this area.The owner Michele Friedrich, a former chef and owner of a restaurant in Alsace, is as delightful as her place is charming and as her meals are delicious. If you enjoy the fois gras, "grottes", walnuts and landscape of the Perigord region of France, then this charming B&B will make your trip perfect. ![]() This was, of course, a minor thing, in the scheme of things, it still seemed like poor service. We had chosen the hotel carefully because of the pool, and we couldn't swim in it. We did not feel our needs were met, as tourists. The rooms were then too hot to stay in, so we went on the deck to cool off, sort of. And you dont cover a pool AFTER adding chemicals. ( Something about upcoming storms made no sense. We really enjoyed the one day we had access to it, and spent hours cooling off after a day's sightseeing! Our travel companions even mentioned at Breakfast, the following morning, that we were looking forward to another swim, given the heat! Well, inexplicably, our host decided to put chemicals in the pool and close it! No warning and no credible explanation. So we double checked and were assured, yes, it would be available to us. We had rung the previous day to confirm the pool was going to be fully operational, as a previous B & B had been caught by surprise by the hot weather and their pool was not open. The big disappointment was inconsistent access to the pool. The assistant manager of the Chambre d'hôtes offered to do some laundry even though I had merely asked if I could use the drying racks on their deck, which was very kind! breakfast was modest but everything was fresh and we ate in a sunny dining room which was very appealing. Once the windows were opened, a good breeze fixed that. Furthermore it was hot, so the rooms were quite warm. Our rooms were on the top floor, so a bit of a slog to get suitcases up. It is across the street from the entrance to the village and walking distance from shops, restaurants and the fabulous views of the valley and the Dordogne.
